Buying Property in the Caribbean

If you are looking for a warm paradise island to escape to for a while, the Caribbean with over 35 destinations, offers a variety of tropical islands for every kind of vacation. Beach lovers will be overwhelmed with white sandy beaches throughout most of the Caribbean. For those in search of refreshing waves will head to the beaches on the east of those islands nearest to the Atlantic, whilst snorkelers will prefer the calmer waters of those beaches on the Caribbean Sea. There are many other ways to enjoy the warm waters of these beautiful islands, including surfing, sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, and swimming with the dolphins.

On land, larger towns provide great shopping, lush forests which are home to numerous plant and bird species, and golf courses and horse stables provide other options. These islands range in size and popularity, with some attracting cruise ships, shoppers, and families, while others remain small and secluded, perfect for weddings and honeymoons and for romantic trips. All in all, there are around 50 islands in the Caribbean.

Other Caribbean states and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico are parted by distance. These states include Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Dominican Republic. Each of these island entities has its own government and its own culture, as well as different visitor attractions.

The Windward Islands incorporate Grenada, St. Lucia, Dominica, and St. Vincent. These 4 islands face the Trade Winds in a line of volcanic peaks, and are well known for their stunning beaches. As the Windwards were once run by France, French heritage remains strong here. Also there is an African influence, with many of the islanders descendants of African slaves. Of the 4 islands, St. Lucia is the most developed and frequently visited, with Grenada also a tourist destination, for sailors and divers. Dominica offers nature tourism and scuba diving. Of all the Windward Islands, St. Vincent is the most untouched.

The six Leeward Islands. The rainforest peaks of the volcano chain include Montserrat, Nevis, and St. Kitts, to the west. To the east are the volcanic range of Antigua, Barbuda, and Anguilla. These islands are known for their coral limestone and some of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean. The Leeward Islands were British colonies for many years, but today all but Montserrat and Anguilla are fully independent.
